Bach JS - Sonatas and Partitas for Violin Solo - Patrick Bismuth

This recording of Bach's sonatas & partitas is in my opinion the best on an original instrument (a Benoist Fleury from 1758).

The recording was made in a small church with a splendid acoustic. The contrapuntal aspect of these beautiful pieces are clearly exposed and this point is one of the most important, the dances are dancing. The beautiful Ciaconna is certainly the fastest of the entire discography and maybe the most beautiful. Never dogmatic, served by the finest technique, one of the best interpretations using a historical violin.
