Elina MustonenThe Finnish harpsichordist, Elina Mustonen, began her harpsichord studies at the age of eight. After her graduation from the Sibelius Academy in 1983, she began studies with the famed Dutch musician Ton Koopman at the Sweelinck Conservatory in Amsterdam, receiving her soloist's diploma in 1988. Elina Mustonen gave her debut recital in 1987, and has since been performing extensively, both as a chamber musician and as a soloist. Her solo performances have also been in conjunction with all the major Finnish orchestras, and she has toured in Estonia, Iceland, the UK, Germany, Italy, Holland, Belgium, France and the USA. Elina Mustonen has made recordings as a soloist with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra under the direction of Ton Koopman for the Erato label, in chamber music by Marin Marais for BIS label, and in complete recordings of J.S. Bach's French and English Suites (BWV 806-811) for Alba label. Her latests recordings for Alba include Scarlattiana - 15 Sonatas for Harpsichord by Domenico Scarlatti and 2XBach, first volume of the complete works for viola da gamba and harpsichord by J.S., C.Ph.E. and J.C. Bach together with Veli-Markus Tapio. She has also participated in international television productions.
Elina Mustonen is currently teaching harpsichord at the Sibelius Academy as well as preparing her doctoral degree with research on J.S. Bach's harpsichord pedagogy for the Departement of Doctoral Studies in Musical Performance and Research at this Academy.
